OnePlus One to be sold without invite in India on February 10

NEW DELHI: If the only thing that's holding you back from buying a One Plus One is an invite then there's some good news for you.

The value-for-money, premium smartphone will be available without an invite to all consumers on February 10.

Amazon.in, the online marketplace which exclusively sells the phone has announced open sale of One-plus One phones in India on its marketplace starting 10am on February 10, 2015 to mark the successful completion of 10 weeks of One-plus in India. Consumers will not require any invite to purchase the One-plus One smartphone during the sale. The phone is otherwise sold only to consumers who have an invite to buy the phone. Invites are distributed via social media and through consumers who buy the phone.

  One-plus One sports top-of-the-line hardware specifications, including a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080P display, 13MP camera with F2.0 aperture and Sony image sensor, 5MP front camera, 3100mAh battery, 4G-support and and NFC. It runs Cyanogen-mod 11S, a custom aftermarket version of Android developed by Cyanogen.

The company earlier announced that it has been developing its own version of Android and a build of the OS based on Lollipop (the latest version of Android), is expected to be released on February 12.

According to One-plus, the OS will be bloatware-free and only carry features important to users. It also says it has no plans of departing from Google's Material Design and will not add unnecessary customizations. The OS was originally being developed for One-plus' future products
